Step back in time at the Blue Wing Restaurant & Saloon.First opened in the 1880s when Upper Lake, California, was a stagecoach stop, our bar and restaurant in Upper Lake was a popular spot for weary travelers to get a hearty and comforting meal, enjoy a cold beverage, and make new friends. It was unfortunately torn down in the 1920s due to Prohibition, but the owners never forgot the legacy and deep history of the saloon. Rebuilt to match an 1870s-era back bar recycled from a pub in Pennsylvania, the expansive black-walnut bar and dining tables were built on site from a 100-plus-year-old tree harvested from the property. Old-growth redwood wainscoting discovered during the hotel’s renovation was rescued and reused in the saloon.

In the heart of downtown Healdsburg, one of the country’s most accomplished chefs Kyle Connaughton, along with farmer and wife Katina Connaughton, host guests at SingleThread Farm-Restaurant-Inn, a 55-seat fine dining restaurant with five exclusive suites above the restaurant. The farm, located on 24 acres in the historic Dry Creek Valley, supplies vegetables, fruit, herbs, flowers and honey, to their restaurant. Guests of the restaurant are treated to a 10-course tasting menu, showcasing the seasonal bounty from the couple’s farm. SingleThread provides guests a bespoke hospitality experience in the center of Sonoma Wine Country.

    We had a great experience at Willi’s last night. Even though we had a late night reservation, our server whose name I wish I could remember, was very gracious and never made us feel rushed. On his recommendation, we tried the bbq oysters which were amazing. And the crab cake was so good, we ordered a second one. Very juicy and full of crab meat, not breading! Their selection of local wines is also great, and it has a very comfy and lively vibe. The kale Caesar was a standout out too!

    I have had the privilege of eating in many fine restaurants all over the world, including several 1 and 2 Michelin star restaurants, but Silver Thread sits right at the top of this list. The restaurant itself is beautiful, the wait staff impeccable and the food is inventive and sublime.
