Oma's Hideaway is a vibrant, maximalist restaurant inspired by the life and spirit of Chef Thomas Pisha Duffly's grandmother, Kiong Tien “Tina” Vandenberg. Her ability to adapt, to make the most out of limited resources, and to stay creative while projecting warmth and brightness is the guiding force behind Oma’s Hideaway.Born during the pandemic as a pop-up in the Gado Gado parking lot, Oma’s became a permanent beacon of iridescent light in Portland’s Richmond neighborhood in 2021. The menu draws from Tina’s life story, taking influence from the craveable, soul-satisfying hawker food of Singapore and Malaysia and “turning up the volume” with exaggerated yet balanced flavors in Chef Tom’s signature style. Oma’s serves dinner accompanied by a seasonal list of hand-crafted cocktails and zero-proof drinks.

    The Charthouse is our favorite location to celebrate a special occasion. This one was our anniversary and they surprised us with a special dessert. The food was fabulous as always and loved their new spritz & bites options!! And the best view in Portland!!

    As a first time dining experience, while visiting from out of town, it was a very enjoyable. Service was very connected and attentive with a full menu rundown and recommended food pairings that were thoughtful. The infused vodkas were punchier than I had imagined they might be but I savored the caraway as an appetizer and the birch as an aperitif. The beverage miss was my timing on ordering the horseradish martini, which was very full flavored and would have been better as a pre-dinner treat. The space has a straightforward layout so the team is always checking in and it feels personal; the details give it an obviously nostalgic ambiance which seems a little out of step given the modern palate the dishes provided. Definitely try the sprats, any of the delicate dumplings and the sturgeon!

    Fantastic experience! My favorite dish was the crispy eggplant and I don’t even like eggplant! The service was friendly and knowledgeable and helpful. I will be back to try the tasting menu, which looks like a great deal. Highly recommend!

    Our experience here was amazing! We tried 7 different dishes and each one was unique and delicious! The staff was super friendly and fun! Cannot say enough about this place:) Next time we’re in Portland this will definitely be on our must-do list! Our server was the sweetest too. He was very helpful, enthusiastic and conscientious. LOVED this place!
