The best meal we've had out in a very long time! The service was exceptional. I appreciate that our waiter let us enjoy our cocktails without rushing us to order. Everything we ordered came out hot hot hot, no sitting in the window waiting to be picked up! The calamari was the best I've ever had! The halibut with mushroom risotto was perfectly prepared. The ribeye, also perfectly prepared. We will definitely be back!

Chicano Nueva absolutely blew us away. I came in knowing the fish taco would be incredible, but I wasn’t prepared for how surprising, thoughtful, and delicious the entire menu would be. My favorite bite of the night was the brown butter blue corn cake with butter and caviar—sweet, savory, rich, and completely unexpected. It reminded me of Brandon’s banana bread and caviar at Ernest, which is about as high a compliment as I can give. The lengua tamale was a huge hit with our entire table, and we all loved the oysters. But what made the night especially memorable was the hospitality. The owners were so present in the dining room that it genuinely felt like we had been invited to eat at their family table. I especially loved the way she referred to every dish and sauce as “she” and “her”—there was so much affection and personality in the way she talked about the food. They also accommodated our ever-changing party size with incredible grace and humor. We were, without question, the loudest table in the restaurant (I am so sorry!), and they somehow made us feel completely at home. Chicano Nueva is the kind of restaurant I love finding: food that is rooted in something deeply personal but still manages to surprise you at every turn. I can't wait to go back.
