The Local Peasant in Sherman Oaks is the Ventura Boulevard pub that solved the tradeoff most bars force you into. Loud game bar or quiet dinner. Fast service or decent food. Kid-friendly early or adult-focused late. This room handles all of it without changing its behavior, and it has been doing it for 15 years running.The kitchen and bar operate under the same standards the founders learned running high-volume rooms in New York, then sharpened at Scopa Italian Roots and Black Market Liquor Bar. Dishes land on the menu because they hold structure and temperature on a line that never stops moving. The pork belly keeps its caramelized edge through a full rush. Wings come out with consistent heat. The pretzel arrives warm with the right chew. Fish and chips stay crisp, and fries hit the table the way fries should. 14058 Ventura Boulevard in the heart of Sherman Oaks. Happy hour runs Monday through Friday, 4 to 6 PM. Weekend brunch fills the room on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

    Had my friends birthday dinner here and was totally impressed. First of all the bar lounge area is so lovely with the lighting and the books it almost felt like an elegant library. The drinks were unique we had the strawberry fields drink which was so delicious. When we were seated for our dinner they sat us in the area near the fire place which was very cozy. The place is got a magical feel to it. The service was amazing our waiter was the best. We explained that we were all vegetarians so he gave us some recommendations. We ended up splitting a few different things that were all delicious. We had the French bread, the little gem salad, the cheese board with the 5 different cheeses, the macaroni and cheese and the mushroom pappardelle. The sticky toffee pudding for dessert was so yummy. Definitely coming back here for more birthday fun

    I’ve been to Black Market several times in the past, and it had been two years since l’ve returned. I came last night with five guests who would never been there, and we had the most incredible service, food, drinks, and overall amazing time. These guys always do it right.

    First time at TLP during happy hour and enjoyed it very much. Our server, David, was very friendly, attentive and professional. The entire staff is wonderful! Great atmosphere too. We got a side of fries and onion rings. Very tasty. I got the fish and crisps — very good. My friends got salads and one got the bacon and eggs. They said it was delicious and filling. I will be back!
