Both Open Table and Caffe Concerto stitched me up. I reserved a table for 2 with Caffe Concerto Birmingham via Open Table as a belated 85th birthday treat for my mum. Imagine my horror when I travelled all the way to Coventry along with my 85 year old mum in the pouring rain on a Saturday night at the restaurant only to be told at the B'ham N. St Station that the restaurant had been closed for a month!!!! - a fact that escaped Open Table despite the fact that they emailed me twice and texted me once demanding that I confirm my booking and that I will definitely turn up. I rang Caffe Concerto customer services and after a 15 minute wait of being made to listen to opera, I was finally informed by an assistant that the B'ham restaurant had been closed for a month and that it was a 'system error'. I had to fruitlessly drag my 85 year old mum around trying to find somewhere to eat and get back to Coventry and good old Wetherspoons came to the rescue. I emailed a complaint to Caffe Concerto customer services and also filled out an online contact form and of course got no response from either. Now Open Table has the cheek to contact me and ask me for a review of my experience. Well, you have it now! Shameful of both Caffe Concerto to continue to maintain a booking link for a non-existent venue and of Open Table to not bother to verify their links or backend systems causing customers so much trouble. Even if I had an option I'd never want to book a table with Caffe Concerto again nor would I ever want to use Open Table again if I can help it.

Not as great as I was hoping it would be. At best, everything was pretty average. I booked a table for my mums birthday but when we got there, the lady at the counter told us to just sit anywhere and then come order at the bar. I was expecting this to be a cafe with slightly more upmarket table service. Not a canteen service where you order at the bar and take your tray to your table yourself. I had the scones which weren’t great. They actually tasted like prepackaged scones from M&S. My mum had the biscoff cheesecake which was nice but not anything outstanding for the price charged. The decaff cappuccinos were average and without much flavour. The whole experience was underwhelming, considering the upmarket vibe it tries to give off. Would I go back? Probably not especially. Certainly not for a special occasion.

Thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon tea however I feel that one small pot of tea is not enough and it is not acceptable to have to pay for a second pot given the overall price

My friend and I visited cafe concerto before going to the theatre. It was a lovely experience, nice cocktails and very tasty BLT rolls. We will definitely be returning! Thank you!

Really enjoyed the experience today celebrating my mom's 80th birthday. Good attentive service, friendly and helpful. Lots to eat as part of the afternoon high tea. In fact, there was too much to eat, so we took two boxes home with us. Thank you Caffè Concerto.

Awful experience from Start to finish . Called Birmingham told to call London main cafe. Called London lady who I spoke to didn’t have very good English. The phone line cut off three times . I repeated my name 3 times . My name was misspelled completely first and surname . I told the staff member, that I had dietary requirements (Vegetarian) confirmed with her that was on the booking, said yes . Be careful if you are vegetarian . We arrived on time, and was quickly told, once we were asked if there were any dietary requirements, that no vegetarian option was requested on the booking . I was asked “ what do you want me to do now??. That is not the response you expect. I had to state that I had been a vegetarian since the age of 6, and that it was definitely something I would not forget to mention. I stated that I requested 1 vegetarian requirement three times. Unfortunately I didn’t have any statement on any confirmations from booking . ( A flaw as it should state requirements ) they you have proof. I was told by the server she would go and speak to the manager. She arrived back to say sorry but the chef was not available and the afternoon tea had already been prepared . I said that I am a vegetarian who needed a vegetarian food . She eventually came Back and said the manager would sort something for me . I ended up buying a baguette as they gave me 1 cream cheese and 1 egg sandwich. I don’t eat egg , it was never asked just given . We were also told when we asked for more tea , that you just gets free refill of water only and not new tea bags . Unbelievable. I think they missed the point , in what unlimited tea is . I would never return to their venue for afternoon tea . It isn’t worth the value as the quality isn’t there . I even had to ask for a clean plate for a dessert .

Thank you to the staff for wonderful food & service. We enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea for our anniversary. The staff kindly accommodated dietry requirements and really looked after us. Food was delicious.
