The House of William and Merry serves contemporary American cuisine prepared from the freshest seasonal ingredients procured from local farms, providing casual fine dining at a reasonable price. Chef-owned by the husband and wife team, Merry Catanuto and William Hoffman, who live on the property, the restaurant is a remodeled farmhouse on the edge of central Hockessin. Dine in a comfortable home atmosphere in one of the two dining rooms, the porch, or the bar. When you arrive, you can see right into the all new, modern kitchen. Full bar service is available including wines by the glass, microbrews on tap, and specialty drinks.     We were there for Newark's Restaurant week and had one of the 3 course meals for $40. The food was very good and the server was very pleasant and efficient but the cost of the three courses was about the same as if we had ordered them separately- no savings there. The cheese tortellini is one of my favorites and is very tasty. My husband had spaghetti bolognase and it too was very good.

    The kitchen at Back Burner always impresses. The wine selection is very good and prices reasonable. Service took a while to ramp up but was excellent once it did. BB is a regular standout for us and it was nice to bring an out of town couple here to try it out.

    Cafe Gelato always pleases. A ravioli special featured handmade ravioli bursting at the seams with a marvelous combination of stuffings. The service was attentive without smothering. And the gelato was decadent.

    I go early for lunch before it gets too busy. The food and drinks are delicious and the folks who work there are very friendly and welcoming! Brussels and Bacon every time. And right now, the Luxury Sidecar is my drink of choice. Delicious!

    Deerfield does not disappoint. Our family tradition of Brunch with Santa continued this year. The food was delicious, the service was spot on. They were both attentive without being overbearing. Thank you for giving the opportunity to keep a treasured transition going!
