The year was 1943, and Jim and Alice Wimmer decided to take a big risk, buying a small existing roadside restaurant known for its char-broiled steaks. How fitting that in 2018, the restaurant's 75th anniversary year, the third generation of Wimmers, Amy Wimmer, takes the helm from her father Jeff and his wife Jane, bringing her own adventurous spirit to the Del-Bar, the same kind of spirit she so admired in her grandparents. Mr. Pancake is open seasonally from Early May to late September- We are a first come, first serve and do not take reservations!Mr. Pancake is a local favorite since 1962, when Chuck Thompson, a Wisconsin Dells teacher, and his wife, Dianne, decide to purchase what was originally the Edwards Pancake House. Mr. Pancakes popularity of "The Thompson Family’s Tradition of Excellence" quickly spread and still continues, Chuck and Dianne's daughter Liz Knoop has been running the restaurant up until 2022, when The Thompson family approached The Del-Bar supper club owners, Amy Wimmer and Anne Stoken, to see if they were in interest of buying the local gem. The common thread of family, tradition, loyal customers, and time-honored recipes made the decision to purchase Mr. Pancake an easy one for the Wimmer sisters.

    We had an opportunity to celebrate our wedding anniversary over dinner with friends in the new 'Jimmy's Room' dining venue, a warm and welcoming new addition to the space at the Del-Bar named for founder Jimmy Wimmer. Having enjoyed the dining and hospitality at the Del-Bar for nearly 60 years starting when my family would camp at nearby Mirror Lake, the team at the Del-Bar, led by Front of House Manager Filip Fanaev and our dedicated server, Jessie Ferrer, delivered an unforgettable evening of exquisite dining. Everything about our meal was spectacular -- the cocktails, shrimp and Swedish meatball appetizers, perfectly prepared steaks and sides, exceptional wines, and too-delicious ice cream drinks for dessert. Filip and Jessie made it their mission to ensure our evening was special from beginning to end and their commitment reminded us why dinner at the Del-Bar is more than just a meal, it is a celebration of tradition and innovation. THANK YOU to the Del-Bar for helping to make our anniversary celebration so very special and especially to Filip and Jessie for their kind devotion.

    The dates and cheese curd appetizers were great, the ribeye steak was better than at a nearby well known steakhouse the night before, fried chicken was yummy!

    The waitress (from Moscow) was great -- she loved working there and loved the food, and you couldn't help getting caught up in her enthusiasm! We tried the food items she tailored to our tastes, and the cuisine was fabulous. Cudo's to her, the Manager and the several excellent Chefs.
