In 1998, Buddy Guindon, his wife Katie, and his brother Kenny opened Katie's Seafood Market in Galveston, Texas. For more than 20 years now, Katie's Seafood Market has provided the highest quality of products available to its customers. The majority of seafood comes from local fishermen and shrimpers, including Red Snapper, Grouper, Golden Tile Fish, Flounder, Oysters, Shrimp, and Blue Crabs. A producer contacted Guindon in the hopes of doing a reality show about his family business. In 2015, the reality show 'Big Fish Texas' came to life on National Geographic. As a supporter of the local economy, In September of 2019, Buddy opened Katie’s Seafood House, next to the market. Katie’s seafood market supplies the restaurant with all fresh seafood. We take pride in being the only local seafood restaurant on the island that brings fresh fish straight from the boat and to your table.

    Easy reservation with Open Table and they accommodated my request for window seat and server Devin. I took Devin’s suggestion for Michael Snapper with Beurre Blanc sauce and not disappointed. Gaido’s knows how to properly season a dish - not too much like some restaurants where “If a little is good, more must be better.”

    Outstanding! The service was stellar and the food was remarkably delicious. They even brought us a complimentary appetizer to try; a Wagu slider with a plum bacon jam...Yum and yum! We sat out on the deck which is calm, quiet and the perfect waterfront ambiance. A special thanks to our bartender, Dakota, the Asst. Manager, Austin and our amazing server, Holly for making our evening so memorable.

    Our server was awesome! The food was amazing. I started with shrimp bisque and had an entrée of Oysters Rockefeller. Both were perfection.

    We chose to eat outside where the views of the harbor and dolphins are great! Our Lobster Bites were a delicious way to start the meal, then we continued on with an authentic Clam Chowder. I highly recommend the Stuffed Shells with crab and spinach, because the combination of the Bechamel sauce and red pepper reduction were mouth-watering! Our server was attentive and the food came out promptly. Unfortunately a table nearby had a very vociferous child which dimmed the peaceful outdoor experience. (Nothing that was the fault of the proprietors)
