We had an exceptional dinner at Juniper and left already looking forward to our next visit. I had dined here once before, but it had been quite a while, and I was excited to finally bring my husband for his first visit. The menu has evolved since my last experience, giving us the opportunity to try several new dishes. We enjoyed the Puffy Potatoes, Rigatoni Alla Vodka, Gnocchi di Patate, Diver Scallops, and for dessert, the Chocolate Budino and a doughnut-style dessert with berry compote. Every dish was outstanding. Our server, Abby, was truly wonderful. We always ask our server for their favorite menu items, and every recommendation she made was spot on. We also put our wine selections entirely in her hands. With guidance from the sommelier, she selected two wines that paired beautifully with our meal and elevated the entire experience. The beverage program deserves recognition as well. My husband is a Negroni enthusiast and keeps a running list of his favorites around Austin. Juniper’s has officially earned a spot on that list. From the single cube of ice to the balance of flavors, it was exactly what a Negroni should be. The service throughout the evening was exceptional. Abby was attentive, knowledgeable, personable, and read the table perfectly. Beyond Abby, the entire staff was outstanding. Water glasses never sat empty, dishes disappeared seamlessly, and every detail was handled with care. Between the food, drinks, service, and atmosphere, Juniper delivered one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Austin. We will absolutely be back. If you’re making a reservation, request Abby’s section and trust her guidance. You won’t be disappointed.

Verbena is truly a hidden gem in downtown. Every time I want to treat myself, this is my go-to spot. While their dinners are absolutely my favorite, this time I stopped by for a late breakfast (almost lunch), and it did not disappoint. Chef Paolo—who is an absolute delight—prepared an avocado toast with salmon and a perfectly poached egg, and it was simply outstanding. Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully executed… honestly, the best of the best. The attention to detail, the quality of the ingredients, and the warmth of the experience make Verbena a place you’ll want to come back to again and again. Highly recommend if you’re looking for something special in downtown!
