Johnny’s Downtown, opened in 1993, is similar to the original Johnny’s Bar on Fulton Road, featuring pasta, veal and fish. The setting, a refurbished 1860’s Warehouse District building, formerly a general store, is the drinking and dining spot of locals and business people alike. Joseph Fall, the executive chef, oversees the food operations and is responsible for our crafting our signature dishes and creating daily specials. There are several wines by the glass to choose from and the wine list has nabbed an Award of Excellence from the Wine Spectator.     We were seated in corner by windows. Lobster bisque delicious with chunks of crab. Oysters delicious. Everything prepared to perfection. Surf and turf and scallops. Great service.

    Food was outstanding I had the halibut and it was one of the best dishes I have had. Our waiter was great. Made excellent suggestions and was very attentive.

    The club room is quiet enough to have a conversation without asking your guest to repeat himself yet there is just enough of a hum to the room that you know you are not alone, that other people are enjoying themselves also. My guest said the food was simple and delicious. It doesn’t need to be any more than that.

    An absolute gem. The menu is inventive, the food delicious. I have eaten there twice for lunch. Once in the back room which was a little noisy, and once in front which was quieter. The server was great the first time and disinterested the next. The pricing is fair. Highly recommend!
