Step inside Il Fornaio and take a culinary journey through Italy. Early mornings bring rustic, crisp crusted bread hot from the oven accompanied by the scent of fresh brewed espresso. During lunch and dinner hours, pastas and flavorful sauces simmer while meats and vegetables roast over hot coals. Bottles of wine from small, regional wineries are uncorked to complement the dishes, which have been crafted in the custom of Italy's chefs, bakers and homemakers. Specialties include wood-fired rotisserie and grilled meats, poultry and game; house made pastas; pizzas from an oak wood burning oven; fresh salads and house made soups; a wide variety of desserts; and fresh baked bread made daily from scratch. We will have gourmet Pizzas developed by our partnership with Michelin-starred Milanese chef Silvio Salmoiraghi, his partner Choi Cheolhyeok, and gastronome Paolo Tucci.     We celebrated my birthday here on a Tuesday night. We brought our own wine and they didn't charge us a corkage fee, which may be a Tuesday-only perk. They also provided a yummy Tiramisu dessert on the house, which was really nice. My wife had the Lasagna, and it was to die for. I had one of their specials, which was Idaho Rainbow Trout. It was excellent, as was the sausage/spinach soup that I started with. It being Tuesday night, the restaurant wasn't crowded, so it was delightfully quiet so that we could enjoy our conversation. The waitress was attentive without hovering. They do have a nice, large outdoor dining patio, which we have used in the past and is very dog friendly, but it was chilly this night in December, so we chose to eat inside. We have eaten here maybe 4 times now, and it has never disappointed.

    Our party of 5 had a very enjoyable afternoon Thanksgiving dinner. Everything worked well and our server Angela took very good care of us. We have had several Thanksgiving dinners here and every one has been excellent.
