I immediately made a reservation with our upcoming stay having dined there two times before we knew it to be a great experience.
The food was delicious, fresh and if you spend your time focusing on the fresh seafood, including oysters, lobster tails and stone crab claws, and visit the caviar station a few times you will certainly get your moneys worth. And the champagne is bottomless.
Glenda was excellent and attentive as our server.
My only dislike came at check in when the staffer Michelle asked my husband to step out of line and mentioned that their “upscale resort casual guidelines” don’t include open toe shoes for men. Mind you, he was in dark brown leather sandals. Not flip flops, rubber soles, thong or even Birkenstock style. She asked him if he had a pair of clothes toed shoes to which he replied “I have tuxedo shoes and my running shoes in my room”. She actually asked him to go change into his running shoes. We asked her why the women were allowed to have open toed shoes she responded “those are fashion sandals“ to which we quickly pointed out, so were his- designer fashion sandals, just for men!
More frustrating, was that upon check-in we mentioned we were having brunch there on Sunday and no one said a word about needing closed toed shoes for men. Also, when the confirmation call came in from their own staff she specifically said “dress code is upscale resort CASUAL” Open tables dress code notes fails to mention said rule, and their own Breakers website doesnt mention shoes rules. They also do not have it posted anywhere that we found informing guests.
We are completely fine abiding by a rule. But you must inform your guest of said rule.
The whole thing was very uncomfortable and set a poor tone for what was intended to be a great brunch.
Do better Breakers. And shame on them for not using better manager discretion in that situation.
So pack accordingly!
